Cosplay

Cosplay is a Japanese subculture in which people dress up as the characters from The Cosby Show. This often involves acting out favorite scenes from the long-running sitcom.

Dressing up as minor characters is a major faux pas and is cause for dismissal from the cosplay community. The acceptable characters are the following:

• Dr. Cliff Huxtable
• Claire Huxtable
• Denise Huxtable
• Theo Huxtable
• Vanessa Huxtable
• Rudy Huxtable

Dressing up as Jell-O is also acceptable.

If Bill Cosby's lawyers show up at the convention, however, you should immediately and defiantly claim to be dressing up as Wilfred Brimley in blackface. Otherwise you run the risk of getting served with a harshly worded cease and desist letter for misappropriating copyrighted images of the Cosby gang.

It must be noted that the use of the word "gang" in the previous sentence is in no way meant to imply that the Cosby Show characters are a violent organized crime group of any kind. "Gang", as used there, should be taken to mean "loose collection of people."
